KEYWORD STRATEGY FOR USE IN THE SEARCH ENGINES |

Today I would like to share with you exactly what I have done to earn several top ten listings as well as many more listings in the top 50.
I earn over a million hits a month using this process. It didn't happen overnight. The search engines are the least costly way to earn free traffic to your website. Choosing the best keywords is the secret to getting the freest traffic. 90% of my traffic is free from the search engines. The following is the step-by-step process I use to select the best keywords for a new page or to launch a new product on the web. |

1) The first step is to build a short list of what I believe will be good keywords for the site in question. I'll start with 4-10 choice
keywords. 2) I type each of the keywords into Alta-Vista and then Info-Seek. I use Alta-Vista because they maintain the largest index on the web and Info seek because they will index my pages within a day after I submit them. 3) I look at several of the top ranking pages found with each keyword to test the suitability of each keyword. When I visit the pages I
look at the other keywords these top ranking pages are using. I may
add a few new keywords to my list. I try to find a total of about 25
words. 4) Next I will visit JimTools keyword generator. This tool will generate a list of keywords that are actually in use in the search engines. 5) Having a list of keywords is only half of the battle; you want to optimize your list so you are targeting only the keywords that get
the most requests in the search engines. For this task I use the keyword-ranking tool from Goto.com GoTo. Com Keyword Ranking Tool >> http://inventory.go2.com/inventory/Search_Suggestion.jhtml This free tool will make a list of keyword combinations using only the keyword I am testing at that time. More importantly it will list the number of times each keyword was used in actual searches at GoTo.com recently. To the right of each keyword generated will be displayed the number of searches that have already used that exact keyword combination. I want add to my list the top 5 to ten keyword combinations actually used. Using this process guarantees that the keywords I choose will actually drive traffic to my pages. Still you will find that some of your keywords get much more traffic than others. I want to focus on the most used keywords that I have already determined will deliver the traffic I seek. You can make bids on keywords at GoTo.com and 16 other search engines. At Go-To.com you may bid as low as a penny a word. If your word or word combination is used the list of results pages will be ranked according to your bid price. To get a higher listing you can buy more keywords for cheap or just use the ones with high visitorcounts . |

6) Next I prepare Meta tags for the page. You can get information on writing the Meta tags at the following URLs. I will also revise the title and description Meta Tags to include several of the 5 to 10 most used keyword combinations I had
discovered earlier. For example, if I was making a page about dogs I might use several the following keywords. I can easily see the top keyword combinations by the number of actual requests displayed to the left of the word. Don't use just using the top keywords if they are not a good match for the content of your page. I measure the quality of the keywords in cold hard cash, I look at sales, not just traffic. The keywords that sell products are the ultimate even if they are not the most used keyword combinations.

You can usually use about 5-7 combinations on your page. Make sure to use them in your title and description as well as the first headline
and the first paragraph and on your image alt text within your page. Keyword density is determined by the ratio of indexed words that contain a specific word or word combination. I will even go one step further and actually name the page the actual keyword I want to focus on; in the preceding step I would name the page "dog". Some search engines will give extra weight to the name of the page in search results. |

8) I create several additional introduction pages designed to rank well with one specific keyword each, by using several combinations
that also use that keyword. I will do the same for each important keyword. Remember we started with one page, now we are making several versions of that one page designed to rank well with several of the top keywords we discovered earlier. Having several pages listed it will boost traffic from the search engines. Since the average web page will only earn one or two visitors a day, using this method will assure that you get more visitors every day. This difference can amount to a lot. If you get a top listing for any of your keywords you can expect hundreds or even thousands of visitors from just one keyword combinition on one well-ranked page.

Each search engine is an independent business. They are not required to do anything to help you. In order to obtain higher placements
help the search engines by keeping your pages targeted as specifically as possible. Getting your pages live is often a two-step process. Step one you submit your URL address. Step two, the search engines send a robot spider to actually add your pages into the index. This process can come up to six weeks in the future. In some cases it may not be added at all. Don't continue to submit your site every day, it won't help, and it could get you banned. The best results come from careful preparation of the original page. Normally you shouldn't re-submit your page often unless you have changed the page and even then submit it again only about once every 4 to 6 weeks. You can gain a higher position if you optimise your page for a specific search engine. You can also loose rankings changing a well positioned page. Many people actually loose position by changing pages with a high placement. If you obtain a high placement don't re-submit that page create a different version of that page instead. You can submit to the Free 4 All, and free classified pages almost as often as you like because these listings work their way off the pages in days or even hours. Following these guidelines should help you earn higher placements. I don't know of any other ways to attract valuable traffic at a comparable cost. |
